The 6th Annual Crestone Music Festival will be held August 7th & 8th at the Challenger Golf Club in Crestone Colorado. This year's festival is looking like a lot of fun. We are very excited to announce that the headliners are the very animated "Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks" on Saturday night at 8 and Bluegrass pioneer Peter Rowan on Sunday night at 6.

Dan Hicks is truly an American original.
Hicks has blended elements of Swing, Jazz, Folk and Country music to create the appealing
sound he sometimes calls "Folk Jazz." His irresistible sense of rhythm, hip lyrical styling, laid-back vocalizing and notorious on-stage wit will make those who listen fans for life. This will be a full band featuring two Licketts, image143.jpg

they are the female back-up singers that help make this act such a delight to see and hear.
A skilled singer songwriter, Peter Rowan's musical wanderings have taken him through many styles of song. For years, he was one of Bill Monroes original Bluegrass Boys. One of his greatest accomplishments was when he collaborated with Jerry Garcia, of the Greatful Dead, Vassar Clements and David Grisman on the album "Old and in the Way. It is still the biggest selling bluegrass album of all time. Interestingly, Peter is a Tibetan Buddhist and will be doing a retreat here before and after his performance.
The Festival is a two-day, two-stage, multi-genre event featuring local, regional, national and international artists. Musical genres vary between Jazz, Classical, Celtic, Country, World Beat, Choral, Bluegrass, Blues, Salsa, Rock, Reggae, Folk, and Acapella. In addition, the Festival has featured theatre, dance, percussion, and poetry performances. Complimenting the musical lineup are a wide range of activities for both youth and adults including; pie eating, limbo and wood chopping contests, fireworks, a hot air balloon, a 5K run, a climbing wall and live alpacas.
Local and regional vendors will display an array of arts, crafts, and food from around the world. Workshops include vocal and percussion. There will once again be a free comedic performance by the Crestone Community Theatre Company Friday night August 6
th at 8pm. Appearing before the comedy will be several local bands and the fire dancers, who were such a great hit last year.
We are continuing to limit the attendance of the festival to 1,500 a day in order to maintain a safe, family-friendly atmosphere so get your tickets early. We are again offering an early bird special for a two-day ticket priced at $35. There are no single day early bird priced tickets. Regular ticket prices are $20 a day in advance and $25 a day at the gate.
The early bird offer is good until June 15
th. Three-night weekend camping will be available for $15. For more information and tickets, please call 1-888-mtn-music 888-686-6874 or visit our website at www.crestone.org/cmf. No pets or outside alcohol allowed.
The Festival would like to thank the Colorado Council on the Arts, the Gay and Lesbian Fund for Colorado, the Saguache County Tourism Board, Skoglund Excavating, MC Snider Construction, Columbine Telephone Co., Line of the Spirit, KRZA, The Crestone Eagle, Shuemi International Institute, ALMA, O & V Printing and Orient Land Trust for their support.
