2004 marks the 30th anniversary of the course at Challenger Golf Club. The course, was opened by the Baca Grande Corporation as a part of the Baca Grande Subdivision which began in the early 70's. It is now under private lease and future plans include development of townhouse lots along the northern fairways. Located just west of Crestone, the 9-hole executive course is the only golf course in Saguache County and provides a challenge to all golfers. The relaxed atmosphere of the area flows into Challenger. Tee times are great but you can walk in and walk on during most of the season with little or no waiting time. Golfing supplies, local art, snacks, beverages, sandwiches, & salads are available at the clubhouse. The clubhouse features a Friday evening BBQ with local entertainment June through mid-September. While in the area, come by and enjoy the challenge of the course or relax with a sandwich, a brew and enjoy the view!
