Line of the Spirit has been based in the
Baca for over 15 years. We at Line of the Spirit design and create collector
quality
rugs and tapestries. We strive to recapture the beauty expressed by primitive
cultures, who used the roots and plants around them to create color to
dye wool—wool then woven for functional purposes, or to celebrate
rites of passage, or to evoke images of the land around them. Like these
cultures, our rugs feature attention to detail and the very best materials
and craftsmanship available.
Line of the Spirit founder Richard M. Enzer
developed his interest in handweavings and textiles in the 1960’s.
He focuses on design-ing and dying wools to capture a feeling for the
classical carpets he grew to love during his years in the New York antique
rug trade.
These patterns and colors are evident in his designs. |
He has had
successful weaving projects
in both Teotitlan de Valle, Mexico, and now in the Carpathian Mountains
of Romania. Line of the Spirit Managing Director Carolyn Hendel began
her rug career by learning
wash and restoration of antique carpets, which grew into rug sales and
marketing. In 15 years managing retail and wholesale galleries in Delaware,
New York, and Santa Fe, she has become responsive to homeowners and Design
Professionals, which aids both in placing and designing rugs.
Richard and
Carolyn specialize in servicing clients, and also have a large collection
of antique and contemporary rugs and textiles from around the world,
Native American and Tribal jewelry, pottery, and artifacts. Gifts and
home furnishing
items are available in a variety of price ranges and can be viewed
by appointment. 719.256.4302. |
